About KMC Medical College Manipal
KMC Medical College, Manipal and Kasturba Medical College, Mangalore are two deemed colleges that are constituent units of Manipal Academy of Higher Education, an Institute of Eminence medical college. Kasturba Medical College, Manipal is in the university town of Manipal, which is a suburb of Udupi, Karnataka.
It is located on Manipal Academy of Higher Education’s sprawling 600-acre campus, whereas KMC Mangalore is located in the heart of Mangalore on 313 acres. Kasturba Medical College Manipal and KMC Mangalore, along with other Manipal institutions, merged to form the Manipal Academy of Higher Education. The UGC granted it deemed university status in 1993.
KMC Medical College Manipal was founded in 1989 and inaugurated on August 1, 1989, by then-Prime Minister Shri Rajiv Gandhi. In 2019, the institute was named an Institute of Eminence. The main Vision and Mission of the college are to instill research and academic excellence in order for students to pursue their studies and sharpen their skills as needed in the dynamically advanced technological world at any level of height and challenge.
